This early 18th Century George I gilt-gesso open armchair features cabriole legs headed by poetic Indian masks adorned with foliate headdresses. Attributed to James Moore and related to the celebrated suite at Houghton Hall, Norfolk, the original chairs are in the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Getty. The provenance includes Wrotham Park, Hertfordshire, famous as the film location for the movie “Gosford Park.”
