George III cream painted and parcel-gilt armchair in the Chinese Chippendale manner. The back, with an inset oval pad surrounded by open fretwork, the legs and seat rails with blind fretwork decoration retaining the original decoration in soft white oil gilding. The original model is a rare pair of Chinese Chippendale chairs dated 1760 in the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Getty, San Francisco.
